Artificial intelligence is simply, machines doing things that require intelligence possessed by them. To accomplish tasks which otherwise need human intelligence to be done. Understanding natural language, recognizing faces in photos, driving a car, or guessing what other books we might like based on what we have previously enjoyed reading. Basically, replacing human decision making with more sophisticated technologies.

Technology continues to embed itself in modern society. From digital assistants and smart-search algorithms in Google, to self-driving cars. Current tech levels already pose dilemmas such as. Whether military drones or other robotic systems should be designed to use lethal force against targets without direct human involvement. Presently, programmed machines reduce the manpower required greatly. But are still capable of gross error without human interventions to guide decision making. These issues will be intensified if AI is built into such systems.
Technology of any kind renders many job opportunities in emerging fields. AI offers a future in which machines do tasks in our stead. Allowing people to pursue lives of leisure, and focus on greater objectives. But, loss of jobs due to the rise of robots for menial tasks poses a challenge for us to continue training and educating our workforce about AI related technologies.
One significant threat of artificial intelligence is. Whether it chooses to use already enhanced abilities to create machines of even greater cognitive power. Advanced generations of AI could operate as high above human beings as we do above animals. Even quite possibly evolve beyond the human ability to understand it. Referred as the Singularity.
AI can aggravate the inequalities we see today in working conditions. It can also increase the gap between the wealth of countries in control of AI and those that are challenged technologically.
REAL OVER VIRTUAL
Real risk is that we can put too much trust in the smart systems we are building. Machine learning works by training software to spot patterns in data. Since much of the data that we feed AIs is imperfect. We should not expect perfect answers all the time. Recognizing that is the first step in managing the risk. Since we are building artificial intelligence in our own image. It is likely to be both as brilliant and as flawed as we are. Today all of us are focusing on latest technologies like AI. Unaware of the fact that the intelligence creating artificial intelligence is always superior. And that humankind not only has the power to create AI but to give it a positive direction as well.
