On Sunday 20th August, a decision was taken about the future of more than 2 lakh IIT aspirants’ students. Perhaps these decisions can prove beneficial for some students or it can snatch a smile of some students.
The decision was that the JEE advance examination would be taken through online mode. The verdict was passed by JOINT ADMISSION BOARD(JAB) on Sunday and was taken keeping in mind the mistakes that took place in JEE advance’2017.
The board believes that online examination would lead to reduction in the mistakes posed by the paper setters and would also help to connect with the students better.
Errors of some questions of 2017 JEE Advance Paper prompted changes – said by officials.
Last year JAB gave away 18 bonus points due to these mistakes which happened in translation and printing.
The officials are fully convinced that online mode would follow full accuracy and transparency.
The student candidates who gave JEE mains’2017 should not worry about the decision as it is also decided that these students can take the advance paper through both online and offline mode.
This year more than 1.5 lakh students had given the examination of the JEE Advance and due to the mistakes in the question paper of this entrance examination, the authorities temporarily banned the admission in the IIT colleges.
In July 2017, a petition was filed by the students regarding the errors of the JEE Advance paper in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decided in favor of the students and directed the JAB to give bonus points to the students for every wrong question of the question paper and asked the authorities to prepare such mechanism that these types of mistake could never happen in the future.
According to the officials, online version has many advantages –
- This will make the evaluation process of students very precise.
- The logistics process will be very simple.
- It will be very safe because there will be no chances of leaking the question paper.
- The process of JEE Advance results will be quite fast. So far students have to wait for 2 months.
- Students can correct his answer easily, it was difficult to correct the answer after filling OMR bubble in the offline version.
But in all this, the biggest problem facing the JAB is how to get the computer available for all students in such a quantity.
Also, the HRD ministry has proposed that the entrance examination such as JEE, NEET, CTET, NET etc. would be handled by a separate body NATIONAL TESTING SERVICE(NTS).
According to Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, this decision has been made so as to reduce the burden on the CBSE and to introduce more reliability into the exam conducting process.
According to media the NEET 2018 exam will going to take place on 10, May 2018. But there is no declaration of date by any official authority.
Please note that the authority only get approval from Cabinet and will take some time to get functional.
As we all know that online application process will soon going to start from January 2018 so there is very little chance that NTA will going to take over the control this year onwards. So, it is more likely that CBSE will conduct paper in 2018 and NTA may take over from 2019 onwards.
In year 2019 there is a good chance that NEET exam will be conducted by NTA. According to newspapers the exam may take place 2 times a year. So that student gets another chance to apply in the same year as students get very less time to prepare for NEET after their 12th class boards.
Although, students aspiring for their entrance examination in 2018-2019 should be updated with such decisions and changes, they should not be distracted or demotivated by it.
All the best!
